Cleaning a military button

Image Alt

In this short vidéo we show you how to clean a military button using several tips of the precision pencil. We start using the glass fiber because we don’t know what’s under the layer of mud and its thickness. As we realize there’s no patina to protect, we use the brass brush to remove most of the dirt. We then alternate the use of brass tip and brush to remove most of the dirt. We apply some cleanbill to help getting rid of the mud. It’s now time to use a more accurate cleaning method: let’s take the needle ! In the end, we could have removed  even the tiniest piece of dirt but we just applied some paraloid on it (we recommend you use our microcristalline wax instead of paraloid). It all depends on the time you have to dedicate to cleaning each coin or artefact.
